In today’s status of the healthcare field, the health and medical sectors are facing a very dire and challenging responsibility especially with the emergence of the global pandemic; still, the sole solution lies on strengthening and amplifying the “why” of the vision and mission of the healthcare setting. This is the holistic and call-for-action concept of Imamu Tomlinson in the article “Healthcare ‘s Imperative for Long-Game Leadership’, wherein leadership in the healthcare setting is very important in battling against public health crisis.
In general, the article asserts that quality and positive leadership management should not only focus on present crisis; it should also put emphasis on planning, devising, considering, and optimizing for long-term plans. Specifically, the COVID-19 global pandemic opened the door of healthcare betterment and the eyes of the practitioners and policy makers on the gravity of the impact of the pandemic and the status of healthcare accessibility and availability especially among populations suffering from health-related disparities. Moreover, the action needed for the worsening pandemic and non-pandemic-related health crisis are increasing over time, which requires not just mere short-term solutions but also the formulation of planning and implementation for long-game improvement.
