Saving means absence of spending whereas savings is the dollars available when people stop consumption. One way through which people can save is through buying certificate of deposit or a document stating that an investor has provided an interest-bearing loan to a bank. This is an example of financial asset or claims on the property and income of the borrower. Financial system is a network of savers, investors, and financial institutions working together in transferring savings to investors.
