1. Health psychology, to an extent, does challenge the core assumptions of the biomedical model. According to the biomedical model, there is an emphasis solely on the biological composition of illnesses and health. Health psychology emerged primarily because it observed the separation between the mind and the body that persists in the biomedical model. In health psychology, there is a need to look more into the application of the biopsychosocial model compared to the biomedical one. In this new model, there is a clearer understanding of the impact of psychological and lifestyle factors on the risk factors that people have. For health psychology, this approach is a better and much more comprehensive approach to utilize even when it comes to figuring out the applicable interventions.
