The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed our lives. The life that we used to know no longer exist. The world is at mercy of the dreaded virus that has infected and killed millions of people across the globe. Two years into the pandemic, vaccines have been produced to protect people and to allow societies to move forward to the “New Normal.” However, access to these life-saving vaccines are hounded with controversies. One of the biggest moral dilemmas related to COVID-19 the impact of race in accessing these vaccines. In a report made by CNN, it pointed out the glaring racial disparities that persist in vaccinations. “Black Americans’ Covid-19 vaccination rates are still lagging months into the nation’s campaign, while Hispanics are closing the gap and Native Americans show the highest rates overall” (Recht, Pradhan &Weber, 2021). In this report, the ethical/moral dilemma that is prominent is the lack of equal and fair access and distribution to vaccines. Every person should have access to vaccines, as it is their right to choose to be protected.
