  • From her father’s speech, what type of family are Malala and her brothers being raised in? Patriarchal or egalitarian?
  • The readings this week talk about the family systems theory, which it describes as, “This system of rules and roles…” Based on what her dad said, what are some of the rules and roles in their family?

Malala’s father aims to let her children be free and let them socialize with others. Yousafzai’s stated that “A good girl should be very kind and very humble” which limits the opportunity of the children to explore their individuality in society. The outcome of how the father of Malala raised his children has resulted in endangering the life of Malala for being socially active on the education issues that are happening in their country.
